Westwood Homes for Sale
Young and vibrant, Westwood is located in Los Angeles’ Westside and owes much of its dynamic energy to the presence of the University of California, Los Angeles (more commonly known as UCLA). With a significant percentage of its population composed of students, it’s something of a college town and many professionals and families have also made Westwood their home.
Other than being the location of UCLA, Westwood is also popular for its large number of historic movie theaters. For fans of the art deco visual style, there’s the Crest Theatre. Another popular landmark is Mann Village Theatre and its famous white tower that stands at a height of around 170 feet. If you’re a UCLA student, you can score a special student’s discount at Bruin Theater.
Westwood is also home to trendy The Hammer, a museum that showcases impressionist and modern art collections. The UCLA Film and Theater Archive runs the Billy Wilder Theater, which is located in The Hammer. Another famous landmark in the area is the Playboy Mansion, and then there’s the Los Angeles Country Club, which is one of the most exclusive country clubs in the country.
Students and locals frequent the Westwood Village shopping district, which has been around since the 1920s. Westwood’s ethnical diversity of this community is reflected in the dining options in the village. There’s a wide range of cuisines here, from French to Lebanese to Persian to Japanese.
There are plenty of condominiums available in Westwood, as well as a sprinkling of single-family homes. The Wilshire Corridor winds its way through the neighborhood, making Westwood the first stop for buyers in the market for L.A.’s foremost luxury condos.
There are also plenty of places for rent for students, and the closer the location to UCLA, the pricier it gets. Westwood is supremely walkable as well, which is why everyone from students to families to retirees simply loves it here.
