The Oaks Gated Community, Calabasas

January 6, 2017 by Gregory Corman

One of the more prestigious and exclusive communities in Southern California, The Oaks at Calabasas is a privateenclave that was developed during the early 2000s. Offering a 24-hour guard-gated entrance plus community amenities that include a clubhouse, state-of-the-art fitness center, Olympic-sized swimming pool, and tennis courts, homes at The Oaks have become highly sought-after properties.  Most residents here were drawn to the area’s seclusion and its close proximity to topnotch schools under the Las Virgenes Unified School District.

Location
The Oaks is located directly adjacent to acres of open space in the Santa Monica Mountains, providing residents with breathtaking views and lush foliage that include oak and sycamore trees, as well as miles of hiking and wilderness trails. Inside The Oaks is another affluent gated community, The Estates, which can be accessed through a second set of guarded gates. Nearby communities include the neighborhoods of Vista Point, Palatino, and Calabasas Park Estates to the east.

Shop and Dine
The nearest retail center is The Commons at Calabasas, an open-air layout shopping mall with distinctive Mediterranean architecture. The Commons offers high-end specialty stores from known brands like Kate Spade New York, Williams-Sonoma, Sephora, L’Occitane, Barnes & Noble, and Polacheck’s Jewelers, plus cafés and dining establishments such as Starbucks, Toscanova, Marmalade Café, Pick Up Stix, Johnny Rockets, Fresh Brothers, and Sugarfish. In addition, The Commons also has the Edwards Calabasas Stadium 6 Cinemas, with three movie theaters.

Real Estate
Housing options at The Oaks include expansive estate properties and luxury custom mansions done in various architectural styles ranging from French Country to Tuscan and Santa Barbara, to Montecito and European Country. Most of the homes found in The Oaks are typically 5,500 square feet and are usually priced in the mid to high $2 million range, while the much larger homes found in The Estates are from 7,000 to 20,000 square feet and are typically priced from $7 million upwards.
