Calabasas Homes for Sale
Sitting on the hills west of the San Fernando Valley is the charming city of Calabasas. While the area has been sporadically inhabited for centuries, it wasn’t until 1991 that the city incorporated. Today it is home to more than 23,000 people, some of which are celebrities seeking refuge from the buzz of L.A. and Hollywood.
The city is considered to be one of the safest areas in the Southland and offers a refreshing respite from the hustle and bustle of the busier parts of Los Angeles County. Compared to L.A.’s more central neighborhoods, the pace of life is slower and more relaxed in Calabasas.
Woodland Hills, Agoura Hills, and Hidden Hills are Calabasas’ neighboring communities while the beaches of Malibu are only 30 minutes away. The Santa Monica Mountains are just northwest of the city, so if you’re always itching to go hiking or biking then this community that still has a semi-rural atmosphere sounds like a good fit for you.
Shop and Dine
Calabasas residents regularly converge in The Commons, an open-air retail and entertainment complex that has a European village vibe. The Commons offers high-end retail stores, a number of restaurants, and entertainment options. Old Town Calabasas is also another popular destination and there are conveniently located neighborhood shopping centers across the city such as Gelson’s Village, Creekside Village, Plaza Calabasas, and so on.
Calabasas offers a lot of gated communities for homebuyers to choose from, including Calabasas Country Estates, The Ridge, and The Oaks of Calabasas. The eastern part of Calabasas (between Las Virgenes and Woodland Hills) is where you’ll find most of the multimillion-dollar estate properties and luxury homes. If you’re in the market for a condo or townhome, you should start your search west of Las Virgenes.
Calabasas is absolutely great for families and there are plenty of good options on where to send your kids to school. The city is served by the top-performing Las Virgenes Unified School District.
