Agoura Hills Homes for Sale
Agoura Hills lies between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Simi Hills, and is just over a 40-minute drive from downtown L.A. This Conejo Valley city has a total area that’s just under 8 square miles and its northern neighbor is already Ventura County. Known as “the Gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains,” Agoura Hills is located in a region that has a diversity of flora and fauna and it’s just minutes away from other sought-after communities such as Calabasas, West Lake Village, Oak Park, and Thousand Oaks. From here you can actually access Malibu’s beaches through the mountains (via trails).
Agoura Hills is an affluent city and many of the homes here are among the most highly valued in the region. Serene and still largely pastoral, this is the perfect place for those who want to raise a family in a peaceful country setting where there are plenty of open spaces. What’s more, the weather’s great, and a lot of families already live in Agoura Hills. The city offers good learning opportunities as well since it’s served by the highly regarded Las Virgenes Unified School District. The city also enjoys a low crime rate and has been included in the SafeWise 50 Safest Cities list.
Live Music and Entertainment Scene
Interestingly, Agoura Hills has gained its own share of fame in the live music and nu metal scene, thanks to homegrown bands such as Linkin Park, Hoobastank, and Incubus. Agoura Hills is also home to The Canyon Club, a concert venue that has hosted a variety of acts including Cyndi Lauper, Boyz II Men, and Pat Benatar.
To this day, Agoura Hills has sponsored live music competitions among the youth, which also resulted from an effort to curb the rise of crime. Aside from producing musicians, Agoura Hills has also bred artists and designers working in different media sectors. Agoura Hills is also known for its annual running event called the Great Race of Agoura Hills. The race is held every March and has been run for more than 20 years.
